Holy Institution Panagia Soumela Pontion Amerikis

Wednesday night in the movie room of «Museum of the Moving Image» in Astoria, the Pan-Pontian Federation of USA and Canada in cooperation with the local societies “Komninoi ” of New York, ‘Pontos” of Norwalk Connecticut and the Holy Institution “Panagia Soumela” held the USA premiere screening of the historical documentary ” The Footprints of the Argonauts”, as part of the week which is dedicated to the Genocide of Greeks of Pontos and Asia Minor. The documentary will also be shown in Norwalk Connecticut this Friday night and at Panagia Soumela in West Milford NJ on Saturday.
The documentary will be introduced by historian-theologian Mr. Theodosis Kyriakides, who was in charge of the project. The film is in Greek with English subtitles.

As you all know, May 19th is the international day of remembrance for the Pontian Genocide. There will be many events around the New York, New Jersey, Norwalk CT and Philadelphia PA areas and we will be posting more info on our Facebook page soon.

One such event will be a public commemoration this Saturday at 12 noon in Bowling Green Park (Broadway and Whitehall Street in downtown Manhattan) where we will raise the Hellenic flag and the historic single headed eagle flag of Pontos. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Please join us on Saturday March 3rd for a night of dancing, great food, and performances, organized by The Pontian Society “Akritai” of Philadelphia
All proceeds will be donated to the Holy Institution Panagia Soumela.
